The liquid is also slightly thick, kind of like you’re drinking a thin corn syrup or something. So, pretty sweet, but manageable to drink. It just tasted like pure white sugar in a liquid form. I personally just wanted to space it out instead of chugging it (just my preference). So, I sat down in a chair, I set my timer and away I went! I made sure to take big sips every 20-30 seconds and I finished the drink within the full 5 minutes. They also mentioned once I drank the solution, I wasn’t allowed to drink or eat within the 1 hour time frame. The nurses said they would start the one hour timer after I completed the drink in full and told me I had 5 minutes to do so. So they handed me the “clear” one, that felt like it was refrigerated before hand. ![]() Even my mom friends who have done the test prior said they never got the option either. I’m not sure if it’s just an American thing (I could be totally wrong about this), but they didn’t give me an option of flavours. When I got to the lab, they took my health card and my requisition and they handed me the drink. I also made sure to drink water and be hydrated before I did the test. My midwife said it was fine to eat the day of the test but to “fast” for 2-3 hours before I actually did the test. I made myself an omelette and made sure to finish it before 0715AM. I did the test in Ontario, Canada, so this was just my personal experience with it.įirst thing I did was eat breakfast in the morning. I had my 1 hour glucose test today and it honestly didn’t go bad! (Still waiting on results). ![]()
